May 9, 2006—According to the latest numbers released by the Centers
for Disease Control (CDC), 78 people have developed fusarium keratitis after use of ReNu
products.
The CDC has investigated 98 confirmed instances of fusarium keratitis, nearly
all of them involving users of ReNu with MoistureLoc and ReNu MultiPlus. Although the
company has recalled ReNu with MoistureLoc, the MultiPlus solution remains available
on store shelves.
As of May 9, 2006, the CDC was still investigating an additional 92 cases of fusarium
keratitis. This web site will be updated when the CDC investigation progresses.
