ReNu Recall

April 12, 2006—Bausch & Lomb announced a recall of ReNu with MoistureLoc based on information that the contact lens solution cleaner was associated with an elevated risk of fusarium keratitis, a fungal eye infection that can lead to blindness.

Winder & Haslam is representing ReNu users who have developed fusarium keratitis following use of ReNu with MoistureLoc. If you have been diagnosed with fusarium keratitis as a result of Bausch & Lomb's ReNu, we encourage you to contact us for more information about your legal rights.

ReNu Linked to Fusarium Keratitis

May 9, 2006—According to the latest numbers released by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), 78 people have developed fusarium keratitis after use of ReNu products.

The CDC has investigated 98 confirmed instances of fusarium keratitis, nearly all of them involving users of ReNu with MoistureLoc and ReNu MultiPlus. Although the company has recalled ReNu with MoistureLoc, the MultiPlus solution remains available on store shelves.

As of May 9, 2006, the CDC was still investigating an additional 92 cases of fusarium keratitis. This web site will be updated when the CDC investigation progresses.

First ReNu Lawsuit Filed Against Bausch & Lomb

April 13, 2006—The first lawsuit filed against Bausch & Lomb over its defective ReNu contact lens cleaner solution alleged the company failed to disclose information of serious problems to consumers and healthcare providers.

Reports indicate the company knew of problems with ReNu as early as November 2005, but did not suspend sales of the product until April 2006. Officials in Hong Kong reportedly alerted the company to the risk of a fungal eye infection in 2005.
